Artesan was born around 2010 when friends Ronnie Bissett and Dickson Telfer got together to just have a good old jam session with each other. The 1st get together went well and after a few more sessions they decided to start recording some of the songs they had been working on. Will Treeby, who Dickson had been working with on another music project was asked to play guitar on the tracks and that was that! Over the next few years of playing together they recorded more tracks at Homegrown Studios in Torwood and gigged across central Scotland, the highlight being when they performed at the Edinburgh Festival in 2013 to over 250 people.
At the end of 2013 unfortunately due to life commitments the band went on hold and 5 long years passed. However fate intervened and after coming across a tune from an old rehearsal session that he thought had potential, Dickson got back in touch with Ronnie and Will to see if they were up for recording it. Adding Ronnie’s son Bryce as a 2nd guitarist and long term session drummer Stuart Blackwood to the line up the song was released in February 2019 and was Artesan’s 1st single, a catchy Indie tune `Feel Like Myself Again'. “Feel” was a great success and was played on Jim Gellatly’s Amazing Radio show, BBC Introducing show RAPAL, Cumbernauld FM, WigWam radio and many more.
Due to COVID-19 the recording of more music was hard for the band but 2nd single 'Lifesaver' was released in February 2020 to similar success. 3rd single FLY was released in May 2022 and saw the band colaborate with Bluejuice Media for the video and the track was recorded at Waterfront Studios in Falkirk. 2022 also saw the band perform on the breakthrough stage at Vibration festival in Falkirk as well as headlining 13th Note in Glasgow
The band are due to release 4th single Rage in December 2022.
Taking influences from bands such as Oasis, The Verve, Embrace, Guns 'n' Roses, Massive Attack, U2, Kasabian, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Richard Ashcroft. The band describe their sound as melodic, anthemic Indie-Rock.
